Redesigned inside and out, the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee boasts charming good looks to go along with improved performance features and technology advancements that continues to place the Grand Cherokee in a class of its own.

The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee outdoes its predecessors with new systems like Jeep Quadra-Lift™ air suspension and the Selec-Terrain™ system. Its all-new 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine offers 23 mpg highway and 500-mile range, an 11 percent improvement in fuel efficiency compared to last year’s model.

Jeep buyers also have their choice of three 4X4 systems, along with Trailer Tow Capability up to 5,000 lbs with the V6 and 7,400 lbs with the V8 version.

The latest in technology, the Uconnect System, is available on the 2011 model. Uconnect allows for hands-free Voice Commands for mobile phones, Sirius Satellite Radio, and the Uconnect Navigation system.

Uconnect Navigation lets Jeep owners choose their destination, including points-of-interest like nearby hotels, restaurants, and shops, using only their voice. The system plays turn-by-turn directions to that location over the vehicle’s speakers while the driver’s focus never leaves the road.

2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee,The First year for the redesigned Grand Cherokee. The Jeep Grand Cherokee was one of the pioneering SUVs that ushered in the modern midsize SUV segment in the early 1990s. When it debuted, the Grand Cherokee represented a bigger and better version of Jeep’s smaller but still popular Cherokee. The company’s designers wanted it to be maneuverable enough for urban duty, roomy enough for family duty, stylish enough to take out on the town and capable enough to get to the more remote campsites.

It would seem that they certainly succeeded. The Jeep Grand Cherokee, as it’s commonly referred to, has become one of America’s top sellers in the SUV segment. Unlike most other traditional SUVs from domestic automakers, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has always been built using a carlike uni-body chassis rather than a body-on-frame design. In general, a uni-body chassis provides advantages in terms of on-road handling, easier entry and exit, and safety. Maintaining Jeep’s strong reputation for off-road prowess is retained thanks in large part to the Grand Cherokee’s advanced four-wheel-drive systems.

2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee ,

The 2^nd year of Redesign little changes were made from its previous year. An anti-skid system as standard and new luxury and sport models make 2006 news for Grand Cherokee. This SUV has a rear liftgate with opening glass and five-passenger seating. No 3rd-row seating is available. Joining base Laredo and midline Limited models are the luxury Overland and the sporty SRT8. A 210-hp V6 is standard on Laredo. A 235-hp V8 is standard on Limited, optional on Laredo. Standard on Overland and optional on Limited is the 330-hp 5.7-liter Hemi V8 . This engine has Chrysler’s Multi-Displacement System to deactivate four cylinders while cruising to save fuel. SRT8 has a 420-hp 6.1-liter Hemi V8 without the system. All use a 5-speed automatic transmission with manual shift gate. SRT8 has all-wheel drive. Other Grand Cherokees come in rear-wheel-drive and AWD versions. Each V8 model uses a specific AWD system; the SRT8′s lacks low-range gearing, as does the AWD V6′s. All versions have antilock 4-wheel disc brakes. SRT8 and AWD versions come with traction control. All but Laredos now include heated front seats and power-adjustable pedals.

Curtain side airbags are standard on Overland, optional otherwise. Overland has front and rear limited-slip differentials, which are an AWD Limited option. Overland also comes with rear obstacle detection and Chrysler’s UConnect wireless cell phone link. SRT8 exclusives include sport-tuned suspension, Brembo-brand brakes, specific trim inside and out, and sport front seats. DVD entertainment and a navigation system are available for all. An off-road package is an AWD Laredo option.

2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee , The 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee, now in its third generation, went through a full redesign a few years ago. It offers increased capability and much improved on-road ride and handling dynamics, thanks to an advanced independent coil-over front suspension, four-wheel antilock disc brakes and electronically controlled four-wheel drive. The exterior design remains unmistakably Jeep, with its signature round headlights and seven-slot front grille.

A 3.7-liter V6 is the standard engine, but 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee is also available with a 4.7-liter V8 and a 5.7-liter V8 with variable displacement technology. For 2007, a new 3.0-liter common-rail diesel (CRD) engine is available, as well as a new flex-fuel-capable 4.7-liter V8 engine. This gives customers the option of filling up with E85, a corn-distilled blend that uses up to an 85 percent concentration of ethanol.

Meanwhile, the Grand Cherokee SRT8 is Jeep’s answer to the BMW X5 and Porsche Cayenne turbo. Chrysler’s Street and Racing Technology (SRT) group is responsible for infusing the otherwise benign Grand Cherokee with some serious attitude. Packing a 6.1-liter Hemi V8 with 420 horsepower, raw power is not an issue. To get all that muscle to the pavement, the SRT folks replaced the Grand Cherokee’s regular four-wheel-drive system with a custom all-wheel-drive setup.

Overall, we think pretty highly of the 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee. With its tasteful interior upgrade that includes a more upscale-appearing instrument cluster and shifter, the SUV offers more luxury and comfort than ever before, but still maintains the rugged character and function that made the Jeep nameplate what it is today.
