July 1, 2016
FCA US LLC ("FCA US") announced a safety recall on certain 2016 model year (DD / DF / DP) RAM Cab Chassis trucks equipped with four wheel drive.
Some of the above vehicles may have a transfer case rear output shaft that was improperly manufactured. The rear output shaft could fracture while driving. A fractured rear output shaft will result in a loss of motive power and a loss of "Park" functionality when the vehicle is operated in two wheel drive mode. The loss of "Park" functionality could cause unintended vehicle movement. This could cause a crash and/or strike bystanders near the vehicle.
Also, 144.5" wheelbase DP model trucks equipped with a one piece rear propeller shaft may experience propeller shaft separation if the transfer case rear output shaft fractures. This could cause a crash without warning while driving.
FCA US will conduct a voluntary safety recall to replace the transfer case assembly on all involved vehicles.
